Please use your instant barbecue responsibly to protect yourself, others and the environment.
- Use outdoors only. Never use an instant barbecue indoors, in a tent, caravan, garage, shed or on a balcony, as it produces carbon monoxide and presents a serious fire risk.
- Choose a safe location. Place the barbecue on level, stable, non-combustible ground, well away from buildings, fences, trees, dry grass, tents and other flammable materials. Do not place it directly on decking.
- Check local restrictions. Instant barbecues may be prohibited in parks, beaches, woodland and other public spaces. Always follow local authority and site rules, particularly during hot or dry weather.
- Never leave it unattended. Keep children and pets away from the barbecue and never move it while it is hot.
- Never use petrol, paraffin or other flammable liquids to light or relight the barbecue. Follow the manufacturer's lighting instructions.
- Extinguish it completely after use. Do not assume the barbecue is safe when the flames have gone out. Hot coals and embers can remain dangerous for many hours. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for extinguishing it and allow it to cool completely before handling or disposal.
- Prevent fires and protect wildlife. Never leave a used barbecue on grass, woodland, beaches or other open land. A discarded barbecue can retain enough heat to ignite dry vegetation and seriously harm people, property and wildlife.
- Dispose of it responsibly. Once completely cold, dispose of the barbecue and its contents in accordance with local waste and recycling guidance. Never put hot ashes or a hot barbecue into a wheelie bin or other waste container.
- Leave no trace. Take all packaging, food waste and other rubbish home or place it in an appropriate bin. Never bury or abandon a barbecue.
If a fire gets out of control, move to a safe location and call the emergency services.
